We are looking for a Utilities Engineer who will be responsible for supporting our GMP manufacturing plant including start-up of the support of clean and base utilities to meet an audacious goal: to go from discovery to fill-finish in a year.You will also participate in the implementation of a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) as well lead the start up and commissioning of the utilities supporting the AbCellera GMP manufacturing facility

 

How you might spend your days

  • Providing solutions for simple to complex engineering issues encountered during the start-up of the plant utilities
  • Managing the performance of the utilities through our control systems: the Building Management System (BMS) and Environmental Monitoring System (EMS). 
  • Working with a project team and third party vendors to develop data to support the maintenance and calibration program
  • Working cross-functionally to ensure QC and Manufacturing utility needs are met as well as input on operations schedules based on utility capabilities.
  • Ensuring an accurate model of utility capabilities is developed and maintained 
  • Training and mentoring the maintenance and calibration team for Utility Systems
  • Evaluating and developing methodologies to improve reliability and efficiency leveraging data science and AI
  • Preparing instructional materials, SOPs and Quality Standards
  • Continuously driving improvements to the established processes, increasing speed and efficiency while meeting regulatory requirements
  • Organizing and planning work in manufacturing shutdown windows  
  • Acting as the system owner of all the clean utilities (WFI, HVAC, EMS and clean glasses)

We'd love to hear from you if

  • You have a bias towards innovation over industry standards, and are enthusiastic about applying your expertise in maintenance and calibration
  • You have a Bachelor’s in Chemical, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering and 8+ years of industry experience within utilities, maintenance or a Master’s degree with 6+ years of experience 
  • You have demonstrated experience in establishing and running best practices for GMP utilities and maintenance in a pharmaceutical plant
  • You have experience working within a CMMS program
  • You have strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively as a member of cross-functional team
  • You have excellent documentation and organizational skills
  • You have superb verbal and written communication skills, including public presentation of data

What we offer

AbCellera’s hiring range for this role is CAD $102,800 - $128,500 annually, commensurate with your education and job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. In addition to base salary, we offer equity, annual bonus dependent on team and company performance, and a 6% (non-match) RRSP contribution.
