We are looking for a Senior Scientist to join our Pharmaceutical Development team within Process Development at AbCellera. You will lead and contribute to a wide range of internal and external pharmaceutical development activities, from formulation development to technical transfer and submission support. You will contribute to the establishment of internal drug product development capabilities for monoclonal antibody formulations, and create workflows with appropriate documentation to successfully execute fill-finish operations.
How you might spend your days
- Designing, planning, and executing scientific and technical activities related to drug product development for liquid and high-concentration biologic formulations
- Analyzing and interpreting experimental data, drawing scientifically sound conclusions, and effectively communicating to cross-functional teams and stakeholders
- Authoring and reviewing technical and regulatory documentation to support formulation development (liquid and lyophilized), process optimization, and technology transfer activities (both to internal GMP facility and external CDMOs)
- Driving innovation by evaluating and implementing novel formulation strategies, technologies, or delivery approaches to enhance drug product performance and manufacturability
- Designing and overseeing clinical in-use studies to inform administration methods and ensure compatibility with delivery systems
- Generating high-quality, reproducible data by applying robust scientific principles, in addition to preparing detailed technical reports, formulation summaries, and presentation materials
- Communicating complex scientific or technical results clearly and effectively to diverse audiences, including technical teams, leadership, and regulatory stakeholders
We'd love to hear from you if
- You have proven experience in drug product development and fill-finish operations, particularly for protein formulations
- You have the equivalent of 10+ years of industry experience in CMC development of biotherapeutics, in addition to a Master’s degree; candidates with less experience are welcome to apply, and may be considered for a Scientist I or II position
- You have comprehensive understanding of scientific strategies for developing protein-based drug products with commercial applicability
- You have extensive scientific expertise in protein formulation, stability, and biophysical characterization, with in-depth knowledge of the formulation of liquid and lyophilized drug products in addition to processing challenges specific to high-concentration biologics in fill-finish operations
- You have hands-on experience with analytical techniques for characterizing biopharmaceuticals (e.g., liquid chromatography, capillary electrophoresis, and/or spectroscopy-based methods)
- You are proficient with electronic lab notebooks (e.g., Benchling), and familiar with 21 CFR Part 11 compliance requirements
- You have strong organizational, data management, and time management skills, with excellent attention to detail
- You have knowledge of regulatory submission requirements, including INDs, BLAs, and CTAs
What we offer
AbCellera’s hiring range for this role is CAD $105,600 - $132,000 annually, commensurate with your education and job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. In addition to base salary, we offer equity, annual bonus dependent on team and company performance, and a 6% (non-match) RRSP contribution.
