From target to the clinic. AbCellera’s platform integrates biology, computation, and engineering to develop impactful antibody-based medicines. We’re scientists, engineers, and business professionals who work together to turn scientific insights into breakthrough medicines. We pursue truth and scientific rigor. We think independently, act with conviction, and have the courage to work at the edge of the unknown. We offer the opportunity to stretch and explore, and to work on things that matter.

We are seeking an experienced scientist with expertise in Modelling and Simulations who can design, develop, and leverage Pharmacometric & Quantitative Pharmacology approaches that will help accelerate drug development of antibody therapeutics across a variety of therapeutic areas and modalities. In this role, you will work within a team of modelers in Translational Science, and collaborate with diverse project teams consisting of biologists, PK scientists, pharmacologists, and others to help guide program development. Your modeling and simulation approaches will integrate data from internal studies and external literature, and will support the design and interpretation of studies in pre-clinical and early clinical development.

How you might spend your days

  • Collaborating with scientists across Translational Science & Clinical Development teams to develop and execute modelling strategies that guide dose selection decisions and contribute to program strategy
  • Performing mechanism-based PK/PD, population PK and PK/PD analysis, clinical trial simulations, or other QSP modelling-based approaches to contribute to critical decision making in pre-clinical and clinical development
  • Collaborating with internal or external Clinical Pharmacology and Biostatistics experts to integrate modelling & simulation strategies that will guide efforts around clinical trial design, dose exploration and optimization
  • Partnering with the Pharmacology and Pharmacokinetics teams to support study design & analysis of data from in vivo studies
  • Providing modelling & simulations expertise across the portfolio and inform go/no-go decisions using model-informed approaches
  • Presenting findings and results in a concise manner to a diverse audience
  • Acting as a subject matter expert in projects where modelling and simulations input is required

We’d love to hear from you if

  • You have proven hands-on experience in Quantitative Pharmacology, Pharmacometric, and population-based approaches with a focus on PK/PD modeling in pre-clinical and early clinical development
  • You have an excellent understanding of theory, principles, and statistical aspects of mathematical modelling and simulation, including numerical methods and parameter estimation/optimization
  • You have hands-on experience using PK/PD and mathematical modelling software (e.g., NONMEM, Julia, Monolix, Matlab, Simbiology) and data analysis and visualization software (e.g., R, Python)
  • You have 8+ years of industry experience in addition to a PhD in Mathematics, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Biomedical engineering, or a related field
  • You have a good understanding of pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic principles for antibody and small molecule therapeutics
  • You are able to learn new areas of biological sciences and integrate the knowledge and data to develop modeling frameworks
  • You thrive in a dynamic working environment, supporting and working with cross-functional teams
  • You have experience with incorporating Modelling & Simulations outcomes into regulatory documents (Investigator Brochures, Briefing books, IND filings, etc) would be desired.
  • You have an ability to express complex ideas in understandable ways, and to communicate effectively with people from different fields
  • You have excellent documentation skills with impeccable attention to detail

What we offer

AbCellera’s hiring range for this role is CAD $135,000 - $170,000 annually, commensurate with your education and job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. In addition to base salary, we offer equity, annual bonus dependent on team and company performance, and a 6% (non-match) RRSP contribution.

You will have a CAD $1,500 annual Active Lifestyle Allowance, annual vacation, professional development opportunities, and comprehensive health benefits. Scientific and technical mentorship is a priority. And you’ll find we prioritize teams and social groups to build community and connections across AbCellera.
