We are looking for an enthusiastic Senior Utilities Technician to join our Engineering Asset Management team, playing a key role in the operations and maintenance of critical utilities systems in our new GMP manufacturing facility. In this role, based in beautiful Vancouver, you will work closely with manufacturing operations, process engineering, quality, and other technical operations functions.
How you might spend your days
- Providing technical support to the Chief Boiler Power Engineer operating our boilers and process vessels in compliance with the Technical Safety BC
- Supporting the day-to-day safe and reliable monitoring and operation of all utilities equipment/systems (e.g. boilers, chillers, air handling units, water for injection, compressed air, clean gasses, etc.), including attendance to alarm in our building management system
- Carrying out work order relating to routine maintenance and planned repair activities for utilities equipment through CMMS e-system
- Performing shutdown and restart of utilities systems during major maintenance activities or unplanned power outage in accordance with internal safety and quality requirements
- Providing technical support, troubleshooting, and problem-solving solutions for utilities systems interfacing with manufacturing process and quality control equipment
- Providing recommendations for improvements on operations of utilities and base building equipment
- May be asked to perform shift work based on company business needs and to ensure minimal downtime of facilities
We’d love to hear from you if
- You have 3+ years of experience in a manufacturing plant operation (steam plant, production, maintenance, quality, safety, and environmental compliance) or similar industry, in addition to a Bachelor's degree; candidates with less experience are welcome to apply, and may be considered for a Technician role
- You have a valid Technical Safety BC Class V Power Engineering certificate (desirable, but not required), or are eager to pursue one in the future
- You have experience with or knowledge about base utilities equipment such as Boilers, Chillers, AHU, and Compressed Gases; hands-on experience in GMP clean utilities (e.g. Reverse Osmosis (RO) Water Systems, Water for Injection, Clean Compressed Air, etc.) would be desirable
- You have a strong mechanical aptitude, electrical knowledge and you are able to perform/supervise routine maintenance and repair tasks
- You have a strong operational acumen with experience in risk management, and can prioritize science and engineering approaches to prevent process downtime
- You are passionate about building dynamic new teams and capabilities that accomplish important goals
- You are a creative and innovative thinker, with the ability to identify potential issues before they arise
What we offer
AbCellera’s hiring range for this role is $67,247 - $82,000 annually, commensurate with your education and job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. In addition to base salary, we offer equity, annual bonus dependent on team and company performance, and a 6% (non-match) RRSP contribution.
